Critical Factors Influencing Interface Management of Prefabricated Building Projects: Evidence from China

Recently, interface management has been regarded as the key to success of prefabricated building projects (PBPs) due its capabilities manage numerous interfaces caused by PBPs’ inherent geographical and organizational fragmentation. However, factors influencing PBPs are largely unknown poorly studied. To compensate for this gap, study aimed investigate critical in with quantitative qualitative methods. Twenty-seven were identified through a literature review, questionnaire survey, face-to-face interviews professionals construction industry. A survey was sent out developers, designers, manufacturers, contractors, consultants China, 66 completed questionnaires received. Results showed top five (1) accuracy design, (2) timeliness information communication, (3) component production supply, (4) standardization (5) definition work content scope. The 27 further categorized into seven groups via exploratory factor analysis, namely: trust cooperation, technical capability, integration, standardization, (6) environment, (7) contractual management. Improving these issues will contribute successful implementation PBPs. Finally, combined relevant expert interviews, impact clusters on discussed. findings may deepening understanding management, reducing unnecessary conflicts difficulties, promoting sustainable development (PB).
